PURCHASE, N.Y. | Behind 12 innings of pitching from freshman Deanna Ebert (Bay Shore, N.Y.) on Thursday afternoon, the Farmingdale State College softball team (21-8, 13-1) moved its winning streak to 17 games with a Skyline Conference doubleheader sweep over host Purchase College (6-19, 4-10) by scores of 3-1 and 15-0 (five innings).

Game 1

Senior first baseman Brooke Walker (Hampton Bays, N.Y.) went 3-for-4 with two RBI in the opener, and drove home classmate Priscilla Rivera (Brentwood, N.Y.) in the top of the first inning on her single to left-center field to put the visitors in front.

After the Panthers leveled the contest in the bottom of the second, Rivera's (2 R, 2 BB, 2 SB) second run of the game put FSC ahead for good in the top of the fifth frame on a single up the middle by freshman Samantha Stolfi (Pt. Jefferson Station, N.Y.) -- who went 2-for-3 in the contest. Walker provided Ebert (6 H, ER, 6 K) with an insurance run in the top of the seventh, when her base knock plated junior shortstop Angelina Capuano (Sayville, N.Y.), whose second hit of the game led off the frame.

Game 2

Ebert won her second decision of the afternoon, and her collegiate career, with a complete-game three-hitter while fanning five Purchase hitters. The Rams supported her with runs in each of the first four innings, including a three-run first and six-run second to take a commanding advantage.

Junior outfielder Jenna Giliberti (Bellmore, N.Y.) went 3-for-4 in the nightcap with three stolen bases and as many runs scored, while Rivera reached base safely in all four plate appearances with a 2-for-2 display with two walks and three runs. Capuano drove in four for the victors, with Walker (triple) scoring three times and driving in two. Freshman catcher Lauren Varagnolo (Centereach, N.Y.) added to the Farmingdale State offense by scoring on a season-best pair of occasions.

Head coach Liz Pennino's FSC squad finishes regular-season play with a pair of home Skyline doubleheaders, beginning Friday morning with a 10 a.m. twinbill against Yeshiva University.
