FSC Tosses Pair of No-Hitters at Sarah Lawrence

BRONX, N.Y. | The FSC softball team pushed their winning streak to nine straight with a sweep at Sarah Lawrence on Sunday afternoon. Farmingdale State cruised to 24-0 and 16-0 victories and improved to 13-8 overall and 5-1 in the Skyline Conference. Pitchers Allie Stanya (Manorville, N.Y.) (W, 6-4, 5.0 IP, 13 SO) and Ava Shorr (North Babylon, N.Y.) (W, 7-4, 5.0 IP, 9 SO) each tossed no-hitters for the Rams.

Junior right fielder Jenna Giliberti (Bellmore, N.Y.) led FSC offensively in game one with four extra-base hits, including two home runs, a triple and a double. She tallied a three-run home run and a grand slam and finished with seven runs batted in, a mark that ranks third all-time for a single game.

Junior shortstop Angelina Capuano (Sayville, N.Y.) recorded three hits, a walk, three runs scored and an RBI and senior center fielder Priscilla Rivera (Brentwood, N.Y.) went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and one RBI. Shorr recorded a double, a triple and three runs batted in, while freshman designated player Samantha Stolfi (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) tallied three hits and a career-best five RBI's. Senior third baseman Brooke Walker (Hampton Bays, N.Y.) registered two hits, three RBI's and four runs scored in the win.

On the mound, Stanya faced 17 batters without allowing a hit and matched her career-best with 13 strikeouts.

The Rams took the second game by a score of 16-0 as Shorr struck out nine batters without allowing a hit in her five innings of work.

12 different batters tallied at least one hit for FSC. Stolfi had two hits, a double and three runs batted in, while freshman first baseman Jenna Scheingold (East Meadow, N.Y.) produced a pair of hits and two RBI's.

Giliberti and senior left fielder Gia D'Andrea (Howard Beach, N.Y.) each had two hits, an RBI and one run scored, Rivera added two hits and one run, and Shorr tallied two hits and two runs scored. 

Stanya, freshman outfielder Alyssa Baez (Queens, N.Y.) and freshman catcher Lauren Varagnolo (Centereach, N.Y.) each had one hit, one RBI and one run scored.

Junior shortstop Ashley Mathes (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) finished with a hit and one run scored and senior catcher Amanda Arcese (Bellmore, N.Y.) recorded an RBI and one run scored in the victory.

The Rams will next play Mount Saint Vincent in a Skyline Conference doubleheader on Saturday, April 22nd at 4:00 p.m. The DH will be played at Farmingdale State with FSC as the away team.
