Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State College softball team won its third-consecutive Skyline Conference Championship, and ninth overall, Sunday afternoon with a 6-0 shutout versus second-seeded Manhattanville College.

Head coach Liz Pennino's Rams (29-3) have now earned the Skyline's automatic bid to next weekend's 2022 NCAA Division III Softball Championship. The 62-team field and pairings will be announced via an online selection show at NCAA.com on Monday at 1 p.m.

FSC senior right-handed pitcher Allie Stanya (Manorville, N.Y.) was named Most Outstanding Player of the championship, firing a one-hit, eight-strikeout gem in the final round and carrying a no-hitter into the sixth inning of play. She will enter NCAA play with a 15-1 record on the campaign.

Scoreless with one out in the bottom of the second, FSC sophomore third baseman Angelina Capuano (Sayville, N.Y.) walked before senior second baseman Julianna Prescia (Oakdale, N.Y.) bunted and reached on a fielder's choice to put runners on first and second. Senior shortstop Jessica Clark (Selden, N.Y.) batted next and was hit-by-pitch to load the bases. Manhattanville (26-16) junior pitcher Charli Shinstine (Encinitas, Calif.) forced an infield fly pop up and a foul out to escape the jam and keep the game 0-0.

Neither team had a hit until the bottom of the fourth inning. After Capuano was hit-by-pitch with one out, Prescia hit a single to left and junior Giana Galanoudis (Farmingdale, N.Y.) earned a pinch-hit walk. Stanya followed with a fielder's choice bunt to score Capuano and put Farmingdale State ahead, 1-0. Shinstine limited the damage by recording a foul out and a ground out.

After Stanya tossed a 1-2-3 top of the fifth, sophomore right fielder Jenna Giliberti (Bellmore, N.Y.) and junior first baseman Brooke Walker (Hampton Bays, N.Y.) led off the bottom half with singles. Two batters later, Capuano hit a two-run double to center field to score two runs and give FSC a 3-0 advantage. The Rams added a run on a Stanya RBI single to score Capuano as they took a four-run lead.

In the top of the sixth, the Valiants tallied their first hit off Stanya on a ground ball to third base. Stanya struck out the next batter before forcing a fly out to maintain the 4-0 lead.

Senior center fielder Priscilla Rivera (Brentwood, N.Y.) led off the bottom of the sixth with a base hit to left-center and Giliberti followed with a walk. Both came in to score later in the inning on a two-run single to left field by Capuano as Farmingdale State went in front, 6-0.
