FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | Sophomore outfielder Jenna Giliberti (Bellmore, N.Y.) went 3-for-4 with a triple Friday morning, while senior right-handed pitcher Allie Stanya (Manorville, N.Y.) went the distance in the pitcher's circle for her 14th victory of the year, as top-seeded Farmingdale State College won a winner's bracket contest against second-seeded Manhattanville College, 8-3, in the 2022 Skyline Conference Softball Championship.

FSC (28-3) advances to the championship round of the double-elimination portion of the tourney, while the Valiants (25-15) will play in an elimination game at 1 p.m. Friday afternoon, against the winning side from the 11 a.m. contest between fifth-seeded St. Joseph's-Brooklyn and third-seeded Mount Saint Mary College.

The Rams got on the board in the top of the first inning, when Giliberti hit a one-out gap triple to right-center field, plating senior Priscilla Rivera (Brentwood, N.Y.) to open FSC's scoring. Two batters later, freshman Ava Shorr (No. Babylon, N.Y.) placed a successful squeeze bunt to the right of Valiants pitcher Charli Shinstine (Encinitas, Calif.) to score Giliberti, before Shorr advanced to second while junior Brooke Walker (Hampton Bays, N.Y.) scored when the throw to first base on the play sailed down the right-field line to push the Farmingdale State advantage to three. Shorr crossed home plate three hitters later on a dropped pop fly in the infield, giving Stanya (7 H, 2 ER, 6 K) a 4-0 lead before setting foot in the pitcher's circle.

Manhattanville pulled two runs back off solo homers, with senior senior Giovanna Liggett (Huntington Beach, Calif.) lifting her conference-leading 10th homer of the campaign to left-center field in the bottom of the first, before freshman Emily Mottoshiski (Craryville, N.Y.) followed suit with a dinger to right-center field in the third inning to slice the Farmingdale State lead to 4-2. Both Liggett and Mottoshiski finished the morning 2-for-3 at the dish.

Stanya pushed the Rams' edge back to four runs in the top of the fifth, helping herself when she sent a two-out triple to the right-center field gap, scoring classmates Jessica Clark (Selden, N.Y.) and Julianna Prescia (Oakdale, N.Y.) and putting FSC in front by a 6-2 margin.

Farmingdale State tacked on two more runs in the sixth stanza, with Walker involved on both run-scoring plays to increase the lead to 8-2. Her single up the middle three batters into the inning scored Rivera from second base, before Walker scored on an error as sophomore Angelina Capuano (Sayville, N.Y.) reached on a fielder's choice.

The Valiants added one run in the bottom of the seventh with two outs, before FSC closed out the contest to move into the championship final.
