Patchogue, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State softball team improved to 15-2 on the season after sweeping Skyline Conference opponent St. Joseph's-Long Island this afternoon. The Rams have won six straight conference games, including five via run-rule.

FSC took the first game by a score of 4-0 behind two home runs from senior catcher Lyndsey Shaw (Sayville, N.Y.).

Farmingdale State got on the board in the first inning as Shaw led off with a double, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by senior center fielder Priscilla Rivera (Brentwood, N.Y.) and scored after sophomore right fielder Jenna Giliberti (Bellmore, N.Y.) reached on an error.

In her next at-bat in the third, Shaw hit a two-run home run to give the Rams a 3-0 advantage.

Shaw hit her second home run of the game in the top of the seventh, before senior pitcher Allie Stanya (Manorville, N.Y.) (W, 8-0, 7.0 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 5 SO) finished off the complete game shutout, her third consecutive.

The Rams used a nine-run third inning to capture the second game, 10-2, in five innings.

After loading the bases in the third, Giliberti walked to drive in a run before junior first baseman Brooke Walker (Hampton Bays, N.Y.) notched an RBI single. After scoring on an error, freshman pitcher Ava Shorr (North Babylon, N.Y.) sacrificed Giliberti in to give FSC a 4-0 advantage.

Farmingdale State added runs on singles from sophomore third baseman Angelina Capuano (Sayville, N.Y.), senior shortstop Jessica Clark (Selden, N.Y.) and Shaw to go in front, 8-0. The Rams ninth run of the inning came on a steal of home by Stanya.

Leading 9-1 in the fourth, Walker notched an RBI double to drive in Rivera as FSC took a 10-1 advantage.

The Golden Eagles scored a run with two outs in the bottom of the fifth, but Shorr forced the next batter to ground out to clinch the 10-2 run-rule victory.

Shaw registered three more hits in the second game with two RBI's and a run scored. Walker went 2-for-3 with two runs batted in and a run scored.

Shorr improved to 7-1 on the season after tossing five innings allowing just two runs and striking out four.

Farmingdale State next plays host to Sarah Lawrence in a Skyline doubleheader on Wednesday, April 13th at 4:30 p.m.
