Game 2: Farmingdale State - 7, Mount Saint Vincent - 1

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Farmingdale State sophomore pitcher Allie Stanya (Babylon, N.Y.) (W, 10-1, 6.0 IP, 0 H, 0 BB) threw the second perfect game in school history in game one of the doubleheader sweep over Mount Saint Vincent this afternoon. Stanya struck out nine and retired all 18 batters she faced in the 8-0 game one victory. The Rams followed with a 7-1 win in the second game to improve to 14-2 in Skyline Conference play. With the wins, FSC clinched the #1 seed and home-field advantage for the upcoming Skyline playoffs next weekend.

It was senior day at FSC and a special pre-game ceremony was held to honor our five seniors, Jessica Lombardo (Levittown, N.Y.), Lexie Collard (Deer Park, N.Y.), Jessica Clark (Selden, N.Y.), Amaris Negron (Central Islip, N.Y.) and Courtney Ludewig (Bethpage, N.Y.).

In the first inning of game one, sophomore catcher Lyndsey Shaw (Sayville, N.Y.) and sophomore center fielder Priscilla Rivera (Brentwood, N.Y.) led off with back-to-back singles before Clark hit a two-run triple to go in front, 2-0. After a Lombardo walk, freshman third baseman Brooke Walker (Westhampton, N.Y.) recorded an RBI groundout to give the Rams a 3-0 advantage.

FSC added a run in the second on a solo homerun from Shaw to go up, 4-0.

In the fourth, Collard hit a triple and was driven in on an RBI single by Ludewig.

The Rams led 5-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth and scored three unearned runs to clinch the 8-0 run-rule victory.

Clark led the way with two triples, two runs scored and two runs batted in, while Shaw went 2-for-4 with a homerun, two RBI's and three runs scored. Collard finished with two hits and two runs scored and Rivera tallied two hits, an RBI, one run scored and one stolen base.

With her perfect game today, Stanya is now ranked tenth in the Nation with a 0.70 earned run average. She has not allowed an earned run since April 10th. The school record for ERA in one season is 1.29 by Hope Zino in 2011.

Trailing 1-0 heading into the bottom of the third inning of game two, Clark hit a two-out, two-run single to give FSC a 2-1 advantage.

The game remained 2-1 until the bottom of the sixth when Farmingdale State broke through with five runs. Sophomore right fielder Julianna Prescia (Oakdale, N.Y.), Shaw, Rivera and Lombardo all recorded one RBI in the inning.

Sophomore pitcher Christina Loeffler (East Meadow, N.Y.) (W, 4-1, CG, 7.0 IP, 1 R, 6 SO) did not allow a run in the top of the seventh as the Rams went on for the 7-1 victory.

10 different players recorded a hit in the win for Farmingdale State.

The Rams will close out their regular season schedule with a pair of games against Mount Saint Vincent tomorrow, Sunday, May 9th at 5:00 p.m. The games will be played at Farmingdale State, however, Mount Saint Vincent will be the home team and fans will not be permitted.
