Rams Improve to 9-3 With Win Over Purchase

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The FSC softball team improved to 9-3 overall and 9-2 in Skyline Conference play with a 9-0 run-rule victory over Purchase College this afternoon.

The Rams opened with a five-run first inning as sophomore shortstop Jessica Clark (Selden, N.Y.) hit an RBI double before senior first baseman Jessica Lombardo (Levittown, N.Y.) tallied a sacrifice fly. After a run-scoring single by freshman third baseman Brooke Walker (Westhampton, N.Y.), freshman right fielder Angelina Capuano (Sayville, N.Y.) and junior left fielder Lexie Collard (Deer Park, N.Y.) notched RBI's to put FSC in front, 5-0.

Farmingdale State added three runs in the second, including a two-run homerun by Walker, and one run in the fourth en route to the 9-0 victory.

Walker led the way with two hits, a homerun, two runs scored and three runs batted in, while sophomore center fielder Priscilla Rivera (Brentwood, N.Y.) went 3-for-3 with two runs. Clark finished 2-for-2 with two runs scored and both Capuano and Collard recorded two hits.

FSC pitchers Allie Stanya (Babylon, N.Y.) (3.0 IP, 1 H, 5 SO) and Christina Loeffler (East Meadow, N.Y.) (W, 3-1, 2.0 IP, 1 H, 2 SO) allowed just two Panthers (0-19, 0-15 Skyline) baserunners in the game.

The Rams next travel to play St. Joseph's-Long Island in a doubleheader on Wednesday, April 28th at 4:00 p.m.
