Rams Earn Skyline Win Over Manhattanville

Farmingdale State - 5, Manhattanville - 2


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State softball team hosted conference opponent Manhattanville for a single game this afternoon and earned a 5-2 victory. The Rams improved to 4-3 overall and 4-2 in Skyline play after today's win.

After scoring a run in the bottom of the first on a passed ball, FSC sophomore right fielder Julianna Prescia (Oakdale, N.Y.) led off the second with an infield single and freshman third baseman Brooke Walker (Westhampton, N.Y.) followed with a single to right center. The runners advanced to second and third on an Amaris Negron (Central Islip, N.Y.) fly out to center before Prescia would score on a wild pitch to give the Rams a 2-0 edge. With two outs, junior left fielder Lexie Collard (Deer Park, N.Y.) hit an RBI single up the middle to score Walker and increase the lead to 3-0.

In the bottom of the fourth, Farmingdale State went out in front 5-0 on a two-out 2 RBI single up the middle by sophomore catcher Lyndsey Shaw (Sayville, N.Y.).

Manhattanville (1-2, 1-2) scored their only two runs of the game in the seventh inning on a 2 RBI double to left field from sophomore catcher Abby Tanuma (Chula Vista, Calif.).

Shaw led the way for the Rams after going 3-for-3 at the plate with a run scored and 2 RBI, while Walker had two hits including a double and a run scored.

Sophomore pitcher Allie Stanya (Babylon, N.Y.) recorded the win and improved to 3-1 after tossing a complete game allowing two runs on six hits with seven strikeouts.

FSC next will host St. Joseph's-Long Island for a Skyline doubleheader on Saturday, April 10th at noon.
