Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. - The FSC softball team traveled to play Mount Saint Vincent this afternoon in a Skyline Conference doubleheader and earned a pair of wins by scores of 13-2 and 11-2. With the victories, the Rams (8-12) improved to a perfect 8-0 in conference play and currently sit atop the Skyline standings.

After freshman center fielder Priscilla Rivera (Brentwood, N.Y.) hit a one-out double in the top of the first, freshman shortstop Jessica Clark (Selden, N.Y.) followed with a 2-run home run. In the next FSC at-bat, junior first baseman Jessica Lombardo (Levittown, N.Y.) hit a solo home run to put the Rams on top, 3-0.

The Dolphins (5-14, 2-2) plated a run in the bottom of the third before an RBI double by Farmingdale State senior right fielder Aleysha Midgett (Huntington, N.Y.) in the fourth inning brought the advantage back to three. After stealing third base, Midgett would come around to score on a passed ball as the Rams took a 5-1 lead.

Mount Saint Vincent scored a run in the bottom of the fourth but an 8-run fifth inning led FSC to the 13-2 run-rule victory.

Rivera was a perfect 4-for-4 with a double, three runs scored and a run batted in, while Lombardo and Clark each homered. Junior catcher Kimberly Basile (Levittown, N.Y.) was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI in game one. On the mound, senior Jaxie Collard (Deer Park, N.Y.) pitched a complete game shutout, allowing two runs on three hits with three strikeouts.

In game two, Farmingdale State jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a two-out RBI single by Midgett which scored Sierra Cardenales (Patchogue, N.Y.). After an RBI single from sophomore left fielder Lexie Collard (Deer Park, N.Y.), a 2 RBI double by Rivera put the Rams out in front, 4-0. FSC used RBI doubles from both Clark and freshman second baseman Julianna Prescia (Oakdale, N.Y.) to extend the lead to 6-0.

The Dolphins would add a run in the bottom of the second and fourth before a five-run seventh inning capped off the 11-2 victory for FSC.

Clark led the way by going 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles, two runs scored and 3 RBI, while Midgett, Lombardo and sophomore pitcher Madeleine Smith (San Diego, Calif.) each had two hits. Smith earned the win after tossing a complete game, giving up one earned run on seven hits, while striking out four.

Farmingdale State next will head to Purchase College for a conference doubleheader tomorrow, Sunday, April 7th at 11:00 a.m.
