FSC Eliminated From Playoffs with Loss to Sage

Newburgh, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State softball team fell, 8-0, to #3 Sage in the Skyline Conference Playoffs today at Mount Saint Mary College. The Rams were eliminated after their second loss of the tournament.

With two outs in the bottom of the fourth and Sage (21-18) up 1-0, the Gators used an Amy Hart (St. Johnsville, N.Y.) RBI single up the middle to go ahead by two. After a Brittany Brooks (North Bangor, N.Y.) RBI single to left which scored two runs, freshman center fielder Kristen Silk (Freehold, N.Y.) followed with an RBI bunt single to increase the lead to 5-0. In the next Sage at-bat, junior second baseman Alexa Silk (Freehold, N.Y.) hit a 2-run home run to left field to increase the advantage to 7-0.

The Gators plated the final run of the game in the fifth for the 8-0 run-rule victory.

FSC (22-19) was held to only two hits in the game.

A. Silk led the way for Sage after going 3-for-3 at the plate with a double, triple, home run and 2 RBI. Hart (12-11) tossed a complete game shutout, allowing two hits and striking out six.
