Bronx, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State softball team played a non-conference doubleheader at NYU this afternoon and fell, 6-3 and 10-0.
FSC (14-14) senior catcher Meagan Anderson (Patchogue, N.Y.) led off the first game with a walk and scored in the Rams' next at-bat on an Allison Dailey (Commack, N.Y.) RBI double to right center. The Rams extended their advantage to 2-0 after an RBI single up the middle from junior first baseman Lori Michalowski (Lindenhurst, N.Y.).
After a Diana King (Rye, N.Y.) RBI single in the bottom of the third cut the NYU (13-12) deficit in half, the Violets used a 2 RBI double from Kahala Bonsignore (Ventura, Calif.) to take their first lead of the game, 3-2. NYU took a 2-run lead on a sacrifice fly by freshman designated player Dakota Damiani (Coral Springs, Fla.) later in the inning.
The Violets added a run in the bottom of the fourth and each team scored once in the sixth as the Rams dropped game one, 6-3.
Michalowski was 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI, while Daley had a double, run scored and run batted in for Farmingdale State.
NYU junior third baseman Molly Webber (Treasure Island, Fla.) was 2-for-3 with a double, triple and 2 RBI.
In game two, the Violets earned a 10-0 five-inning run-rule victory. They scored four runs in the first, three in the second and three in the third, while holding the Rams to only three hits.
Bonsignore led the way for NYU with two hits and game-high's in both runs scored (3) and RBI's (3). King (3-2) threw a complete game, allowing three hits and striking out eight.
FSC next will close out the regular season when they play host to Mount Saint Mary (DH) for senior day on Saturday, April 23rd at noon.
