Rams Sweep Polytechnic; Farber Breaks Homerun

Brooklyn, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State softball
team improved to 23-3, 6-0 in the Skyline with two wins over
Polytechnic University (6-12, 4-2) on Monday afternoon. Sophomore
shortstop Nicole Farber (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) hit two homers
in game one to increase her total to 12 this season, breaking her
single-season record of 11 from last year.
The Rams hit five homeruns total in the 10-2 and 11-1 victories.
Farber hit two in game one, before freshman first baseman Aubrey
Walker (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon), sophomore catcher Arielle
Morelli (Bohemia, N.Y./Connetquot) and freshman third baseman
Shelby Martin (New Paltz, N.Y./New Paltz) each added homeruns to
their day in the second game. Farmingdale has now hit 21 homeruns
total this season (a new school record).
In game one, freshman pitcher Hope Zino (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore)
struck out 10 batters, while allowing just two earned runs in the
10-2 win. This better's Zino's overall record to 11-0 with a 1.13
earned run average.
Sophomore pitcher Heather Buckshaw (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot)
pitched the second game in the 11-1 win, throwing five innings
while allowing just three hits and no earned runs. Buckshaw now
holds a 10-3 record with a 1.51 ERA.
The Rams have five doubleheaders remaining in the regular season
and will host Old Westbury in a Skyline doubleheader on Wednesday,
April 15th at 3:30 p.m.
