Pomona, N.J. - In the ECAC Division III Metro Softball Semifinal round held at top seed Richard Stockton College, the Rams fell in game one to third seeded FDU-Florham, 9-1, but came back with a win against #4 Baruch, 5-0, to stay alive in the double-elimination tournament. Cape Cod, Mass. - After finishing the regular-season with a 29-10 record, a program best, the Farmingdale State Rams were selected to play in the 2008 ECAC Division III Metro Championships for the first time in program history. The Rams will host the first round of the Championships, facing Brooklyn College (13-13) on Wednesday, May 7th at 4:00 p.m. Richard Stockton College, who finished 24-16, was selected as the number one seed in the Championship and will host the Final Rounds on Saturday, May 10th and Sunday, May 11th. The tournament is a seven-team field with a quarterfinal round followed by a double-elimination format for the remaining four teams. The top seed received a first round bye...

Selden, N.Y. - Second-seeded Farmingdale State (29-10) was upset by #3 seed Polytechnic (21-18) today in the Skyline Conference Softball Semifinal game held at Suffolk Community College in Selden, N.Y. The Rams were tied 1-1 going into the 5th inning, before a 1-out double by freshman catcher Arielle Morelli (Bohemia, N.Y./Connetquot). On a wild pitch, Morelli moved over to third and then scored on a groundout by freshman third basemen Nicole Farber, giving the Rams a 2-1 edge. Polytechnic tied it in the 7th with a 1-out groundout and scored in the top of the 8th inning, before the Rams went 1-2-3 in the bottom of the 8th inning. Polytech advances to the Championship game today at 5:00 p.m., facing top seed St. Joseph's, who defeated Mount Saint Mary College in the other semifinal match-up. Farmingdale State will now await news on whether they received a bid to the ECAC Championships, to be played next week on May 7, 10, 11...

Bellport, N.Y. - The 2008 Skyline Conference Softball Playoffs were postponed on Friday night, due to the field conditions at host site St. Joseph's Martha Avenue field in Bellport, N.Y. The Conference Champion, who will advance to the Division III NCAA Championship Tournament, needs to be decided by Sunday night, so the format of the playoffs has been revised in order to meet the deadline. Farmingdale State freshman pitcher Heather Buckshaw (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) was named the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week for women's softball on Monday, April 28th. Buckshaw compiled a 3-0 record with a 0.53 earned run average in three starts. In three games last week, Buckshaw allowed just nine hits and one run over 17 innings. Farmingdale State junior outfielder Kristina Cirillo (Brentwood, N.Y./Brentwood) was named to the Skyline Player of the Week Honor Roll for softball on Monday, March 24th. Cirillo led the team with a .364 batting average in the teams six games last week in Cocoa Beach, Florida. With the score 1-1 after 8 innings against Division II Mercy College, she ripped a 2-run homer in the top of the 9th to give Farmingdale the 3-1 lead and the eventual win. In the Rams 2-1 win over Hamilton, she ripped an RBI single in the top of the 7th which would be the game-winning hit for a 2-1 win. She also had two RBI’s in the 7-0 win over Grinnell and finished with 8 hits, 6 RBI’s and three runs scored for the week...

Poplawski helped the Rams wrap up an impressive 11-3 spring trip (Farmingdale went 11-14 last season). In three starts last week (20 innings), Poplawski went 2-1 with a 0.45 ERA.
