Haynes, Calogianes Record Top-5 Finishes at MSMC Invite

Milton, N.Y. - The FSC men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Mount Saint Mary College Invitational at the Hudson Valley Sports Dome in Milton, N.Y. on Sunday afternoon. The men earned a fourth place finish out of 23 competing teams, while the women took seventh of 19 teams. The Merchant Marine men and St. Joseph's-Long Island women were victorious as they each had four runners place in the top-10 of their respective races.

In the men's 8k, Farmingdale State senior Matthew Calogianes (Deer Park, N.Y.) captured fifth place out of 126 runners in a time of 28:14.7. His average pace of 5:41 is a season-best.

Senior Connor McKeever (West Babylon, N.Y.) took 24th in 30:49.7, while sophomore Jonathan Engelhardt (Kings Park, N.Y.) earned 32nd in 31:36.5.

Sophomore Patrick Vierling (Deer Park, N.Y.) ran a 6:26 average mile and came in 37th in 32:01.0. Junior Anthony Piergiovanni (Wantagh, N.Y.) rounded out the scoring for FSC as he placed 44th in 32:42.3.

In the women's 6,000-meter race, senior Alycia Haynes (Adams Center, N.Y.) tallied a second place finish for the second consecutive week. She registered her runner-up finish out of 91 competitors in 25:29.9. USMMA's Jaquelynn Sheedy took first in 25:07.7.

Freshman Loamy Maldonado (Brentwood, N.Y.) came in 55th in 37:04.7 for Farmingdale State.

The Rams will next travel to Bethpage State Park for the Golden Eagle Invitational on Friday, September 30th.
