Farmingdale State Opens Season at Adelphi XC Invite

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's and women's cross country teams opened their 2021 season at the Adelphi Panthers XC Invite at Bethpage State Park this afternoon. The men earned an 11th place finish, while the women came in 13th. Kutztown and Southern Connecticut State picked up victories in the men's and women's races, respectively.

Junior Matthew Calogianes (Deer Park, N.Y.) led Farmingdale State in the men's 8k with a 39th place finish (out of 141 runners) in 28:28.1. Freshman Daniel Catano (Deer Park, N.Y.) (32:14.6) took 91st in his first collegiate race.

For the women, sophomore Alycia Haynes (Adams Center, N.Y.) (71st of 129) completed the 5k in 23:56.1, while freshman Gianna Scibelli (North Babylon, N.Y.) (86th of 129) finished in 25:15.0.

The Rams next will travel to the Hudson Valley Sportsdome in Milton, N.Y. to compete in the Mount Saint Mary College Knight Invitational on Sunday, September 26th.
