Calogianes, Haynes Lead Rams at Golden Eagle Invitational

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Golden Eagle Invitational, hosted by St. Joseph's-Long Island, on Sunday morning. The men came in 9th place of 22 competing schools, while the women finished in 11th out of 20 schools. St. Thomas Aquinas won both the men's 8k and women's 5k races. 

Junior Matthew Calogianes (Deer Park, N.Y.) paced the FSC men as he earned 19th out of 169 runners in a time of 28:22.89 (5:43 average mile). Rams' sophomore Alycia Haynes (Adams Center, N.Y.) led the women with a 16th place finish out of 150 competitors in 21:04.45 (6:47 average mile). 

Freshmen Daniel Catano (Deer Park, N.Y.) came in 50th in the men's 8k with a career-best time of 29:59.21, an average pace of 6:02. Sophomore Thomas Moeller (Kings Park, N.Y.) finished in 58th in 30:27.24, while sophomore Wyatt Rogers (Central Square, N.Y.) (30:54.92) and freshman Jonathan Engelhardt (Kings Park, N.Y.) (31:14.67) placed 74th and 78th, respectively.

For the women, freshman Gianna Scibelli (North Babylon, N.Y.) ran at a 7:59 pace and came in 70th in 24:48.11. Junior Nazira Bah-Traore (Wheatley Heights, N.Y.) and freshman Jillian Kosky (Merrick, N.Y.) placed 83rd and 85th in 25:55.35 and 26:19.44, respectively.

The cross country teams will next compete at the SJC Invitational at Sunken Meadow State Park in Kings Park, N.Y. on Saturday, October 16th.
