FSC Competes at 2021 Highlander XC Challenge

Newark, N.J. - The Farmingdale State men's and women's cross country teams traveled to Newark, N.J. for the Highlander XC Challenge, hosted by New Jersey Institute of Technology, on Saturday. The men came in 17th place, while the women finished in 24th. The meet consisted of schools across all three divisions with Division I Seton Hall placing first in both the men's and women's races.

Junior Matthew Calogianes (Deer Park, N.Y.) led FSC in the men's 8k with a 67th place (out of 237) finish in 28:32.79. Freshmen Daniel Catano (Deer Park, N.Y.) and Jonathan Engelhardt (Kings Park, N.Y.) came in 101st and 103rd with personal-best times of 30:01.38 and 30:04.43, respectively, while sophomore Wyatt Rogers (Central Square, N.Y.) posted a season-best time of 30:29.83 for 116th overall.

For the women, sophomore Alycia Haynes (Adams Center, N.Y.) paced the Rams and came in 47th out of 235 runners in a season-best time of 20:29.00, while freshman Gianna Scibelli (North Babylon, N.Y.) (23:32.66) finished in 129th. Freshman Jillian Kosky (Merrick, N.Y.) (26:06.58 - 181st) and junior Nazira Bah-Traore (Wheatley Heights, N.Y.) (27:11.44 - 193rd) rounded out the top four for Farmingdale State.

The cross country teams next will compete at the Annual Golden Eagle Invitational at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, N.Y. on Sunday, October 10th.
