Milton, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's and women's cross country teams traveled to the Hudson Valley Sportsdome in Milton, N.Y. on Thursday afternoon for the Skyline Conference Championships. The men's team finished in 6th place overall, while the women's team took 7th overall. Placing five runners in the top 10 in each race, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men's and women's cross country teams swept the team titles.

Women's race - 6k - 1:00 p.m.

On the women's side, USMMA freshman Robin King was named Runner and Rookie of the Year after winning the 6,000-meter race with a time of 24:50.97. Fellow Mariners rookie Brooke Jorstad placed second (25:38.40), while Farmingdale State's Erin Lettieri (25:58.01), USMMA's Anna Grafton (26:09.67) and Purchase's Haley Maerz (26:14.51) rounded out the top-five.

USMMA, whose head coach David Lawrence, Jr., was named Coach of the Year by his peers on both sides, scored 23 points in the women's race. The Mariners were followed in top-five finishes by St. Joseph's-Long Island (68), Sarah Lawrence (113), Mount Saint Mary (113) and Mount Saint Vincent (150).

Farmingdale State junior Nicole Ferguson (Shirley, N.Y.) finished in 22nd place with a time of 28:09.6, while sophomore Alexis Papol (Brookhaven, N.Y.) placed 43rd at 30:13.9. Freshman Nazira Bah-Traore (Wheatley Heights, N.Y.) and junior Alicia Shipsey (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) finished in 76th and 82nd place, respectively.

Men's race - 8k - 2:00 p.m.

Farmingdale State freshman Joshua Green (Shelter Island, N.Y.) won the men's 8,000-meter race in a time of 27:46.1. Green edged runner-up freshman Lucas Jordan (Littleton, Colo.) of Merchant Marine, winning by a margin of 3.4 seconds. Coming into the final straightaway just behind Jordan, Green sprinted the final 100 yards and grabbed the lead with 20 yards remaining. His first place finish earned him both Runner of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors. Mount Saint Mary's Kenneth Barrett (28:15.00) and USMMA's Aohdan Meyer (28:35.66) rounded out a top-four sweep by freshmen competitors, while Maritime junior Sean Hobson (28:39.76) completed the top-five.

FSC freshman Evan McCrann (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) placed 18th individually (29:44.3) for the Rams and freshman Dydro Prosper (Uniondale, N.Y.) placed 51st overall. Sophomore Clint Thompson (East Hampton, N.Y.) posted a 59th place finish and sophomore Chris Malfa (Merrick, N.Y.) placed 67th as they rounded out the top five for FSC.

The Mariners (30) were followed in the men's race by Maritime (65), while St. Joseph's-Long Island (95), Purchase (117) and Mount Saint Mary (127) rounded out the top-five.

The top-seven runners in each race were named first-team all-conference, while runners 8-through-14 garnered second-team accolades.

The Rams will return to the Hudson Valley Sportsdome on November 3rd for the ECAC Championships.
