2014 Cross Country Season Recap


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's and women's cross country teams each finished in sixth place out of 10 teams at the Skyline Conference Championship held at the Hudson Valley Sports Dome in Milton, N.Y.

At the season opening St. John's/Hofstra Fall Festival in Oakdale, N.Y., the women finished fourth as they were led by sophomore Penelope Cruz Perez (Santiago, DR) who placed 48th with a time of 23:08. The men placed fifth and were led by freshman John Mahon's (Bellmore, N.Y.) 51st place finish in 17:50.5.

The men's and women's teams each finished 12th at the Mount Saint Mary Invitational. Junior Carina Bonilla (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) placed a team-best 55th in 23:51, while junior Dan Barrett (Wantagh, N.Y.) led the men with a time of 32:40 (60th place).

At the CCNY Invitational held at Van Cortlandt Park, the men took seventh and the women recorded a 10th place finish. Sophomore Jacob Kashani (Roslyn, N.Y.) paced the men with an 18th place finish in 31:30.4, while freshman Nicole Franz (Huntington, N.Y.) finished in 28th place.

Both the men's and women's teams are expected to return their entire roster for the 2015 season.
