2012 Cross Country Season Recap


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's and women's cross country teams finished in fifth and fourth place, respectively, at the 2012 Skyline Conference Championship hosted by Mount Saint Mary College at Chadwick Lake Park in Newburgh, N.Y.

Sophomore William Frederic (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was named First Team All-Conference after leading the men's team with a third place finish (28:42.19) and junior Melissa Bonilla (Massapequa, N.Y.) earned Second Team All-Skyline honors after finishing in ninth place (21:42.18) for the women.

At the St. Joseph's Invitational, the men were led by Frederic who placed sixth (29:19.26) and freshman Brandon Yip (Mount Sinai, N.Y.) who finished in 10th place with a personal best time of 29:50.10. Bonilla led the women as she finished in 24th place with a time of 22.40.68, while sophomore Druscilla Dickson (Copiague, N.Y.) placed 37th for the Rams.

Frederic led the men at the St. John's Fall Festival held at Cunningham Park with a 10th place finish in a time of 17:40.47 on the 5000m course.

At the season opening Hofstra Invitational, both the men's and women's teams each finished in seventh place. Freshman Sean Hall (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) ran a team-best 18:26:00, while Bonilla led the women with a time of 22:44.43. Freshman Carina Bonilla (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) ran the second best time for Farmingdale State in the race.

The women's team will be graduating one senior and the men's team will return their entire roster next year.
