Rams Finish 3rd and 5th at St. Joe's Invitational, Tiernan Places 1st

- Tiernan Wins the Mens Race, Bonilla Finishes 12th -


Kings Park, N.Y. - Farmingdale State senior Sean Tiernan (Staten Island, N.Y.) won the St. Joseph's Invitational on Saturday, October 22nd at Sunken Meadow State Park in Kings Park, N.Y. The men's team finished 3rd out of 19, while the women finished 5th out of 16. St. Joe's took the medals in both the men's and women's races.

Tiernan won the eight mile race in a time of 27:19.9 out of 167 runners. He took the lead at the beginning of the race and vanquished Eric Haun from St. Joseph, who finished 300 meters behind Sean with a time of 28:22.5. With that time, Sean bested his old record for the course and moved from 6th place in meet history to 3rd place. Finishing second for the Rams was freshmen William Frederic (Brooklyn, N.Y.) in 30:07.3.

The women's team placed 5th out of 16. The team was lead by sophomore Melissa Bonilla (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) who ran well and finished 12 out of 114 runners with a time of 22:40.4. Following Bonilla from the Rams was freshman Druscilla Dickson (Copiague, N.Y.) with a finish of 23:37.1.

Farmingdale State will compete in the Skyline Conference Championships next weekend on Sunday, October 30th at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, N.Y. The women's race starts at 9:45am and the men's race will begin at 11:15am.
