Tiernan Leads Rams to Best Finish in School History at NCAA Regionals

Oneonta, N.Y. - The men's team finished the season in top form running their fastest overall race of the year. Junior Sean Tiernan (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville), the Skyline Conference Runner of the Year, capped off his fantastic season running a solid 26:29 to place 59th out of 268 runners. This is the highest regional finish in school history.
Junior Sean Daly (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) 27:04.9 (96th place) and senior Tim Flynn (Smithtown, N.Y./St. Anthony's) 27:36.8 (128th place) followed closely behind Tiernan. Daly and Flynn each finished their careers with personal best performances. Sean hopes to be entering pharmacy school next fall and Tim will be graduating in May. Junior Russell Darress (Lynbrook, N.Y./Lynbrook) finished fourth best on Farmingdale State with a time of 28:44.6 (189th place). The team placed 23rd in the meet with a 27:51.7 average time for the seven man team. This is the highest regional team finish in school history. Farmingdale State was the top Skyline Conference team in the race and avenged previous losses to St. Joseph's (27th), Maritime (33rd), Stevens (24th) and Union College (28th).
Senior Mary Orobona (Farmingdale, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) finished her career running a 6,000m person best of 26:36.3 (179th place). Freshman Jessica Josema (Medford, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) closely followed Orobona with a 26:37.2 (181st place) performance.
In their first-ever appearance in the NCAA Regional Championship, the women's team placed 32nd in the meet.
