Skyline Releases Cross Country Report #6

- Tiernan, Glidden, Josema and Orobona dominate weekly awards -


Clifton Park, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the sixth cross country report for the 2010 season on Monday afternoon, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics.

Junior Sean Tiernan (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville) was named Skyline Conference Runner of the Week for the men. Tiernan was the top Division III finisher at the NJIT Highlander Invitational, recording a time of 26:09 on the 8K Branch Brook Park course in Newark. Tiernan was one of just two Division III runners to place in the Top-10 in the field of 153 runners. As a team, he paced the Rams to a fifth-place finish out of 15 teams.

Freshman Edward Glidden (Greenfield, N.H./Contocook Valley Regional) was named the men's Rookie of the Week, after he broke the 30-minute mark at the Invitational, placing 57th out of 153 competitors with a time of 29:22. Glidden was Farmingdale State’s fifth scorer, and Farmingdale finished second among Division III teams.

Freshman Jessica Josema (Medford, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) was named the Rookie of the Week for the women. Josema was the top Skyline Conference rookie at the Highlander Invitational, recording a time of 21:31 on the 5K Branch Brook Park course. Josema, 38th out of 125 runners, was the second Farmingdale runner to cross the line, trailing only teammate Mary Orobona. As a team, the Rams placed eighth.

Senior Mary Orobona (Farmingdale, N.Y./Kellenberg) was named to the Honor Roll this week, after finishing as the top Skyline runner in 28th place with a time of 21:09.
