Men Place Fourth, Women Finish Fifth at Wesleyan Invitational

Middletown, Conn. - Junior Sean Tiernan (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville) placed eighth in 27:46.72, leading the men's team to a fourth place finish at the Wesleyan University Invitational. The field featured two of New England's top teams. Bowdoin (Maine) and host school Wesleyan placed 13 of the top 14 finishers. Only Tiernan, last years Most Valuable Player, broke into the top scorers. Farmingdale State, missing two runners due to injury, placed fourth at the meet.
Senior Mary Orobona (Farmingdale, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) finished in 29th place with a personal best time of 22:22.30. Freshman Jessica Josema (Medford, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford), in her first collegiate race, placed 41st in 24:31.97, while sophomore Marjorie Diemicke (North Massapequa, N.Y./Plainedge) took 43rd place. The women's team finished in fifth place at the meet.
