Newark, N.J. - The Farmingdale State men's and women's cross country team ran at the Highlander Invitational this morning, held at Branch Brook Park in Newark, N.J.
Freshman Russell Darress (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook) led the men's team to a 4th place finish out of 13 teams in a personal best 27:58 for the 8K race. Russell placed 5th. Three other runners set personal bests in the same race.
Freshman Sarah Pope (North Babylon, NY/North Babylon) and sophomore Kristyn Ruggiero (Commack, NY/Commack) placed 14th and 15th respectively in the women's 5K race. Sarah and Kristyn ran season bests, 22:11 and 22:14. Teresa Cox set a personal best 23:43 placing 30th. The women did not finish a full team.
