QUEENS, N.Y., and KINGS POINT, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State men's and women's outdoor track and field teams competed in a pair of meets this weekend, with student-athletes participating in The Big Hurt at St. John's University and Coach Omeltchenko Invitational at Merchant Marine Academy on Saturday and Sunday.

Farmingdale State senior Joseph Stocken VI (Miller Place, N.Y.) led the men at The Big Hurt, capturing wins in each of his three events. He won the 110m hurdles in 15.65, 400m hurdles in 55.36 and the 4x400m relay in 3:32.91, with teammates Timothy Folarin (Elmont, N.Y.), Connor McKeever (North Babylon, N.Y.) and Samuel Aladegboungbe (Bay Shore, N.Y.).

Stocken VI moved into sixth place on the FSC all-time list with his mark in the 400m hurdles.

The men won two other events as Aladegboungbe took first in the high jump with a mark of 1.70m (5' 7") and freshman Daniel Bamfo (Lake Grove, N.Y.) won the triple jump with a mark of 13.30m (43' 7.75").

FSC sophomore Isaiah Mehnert (West Babylon, N.Y.) (12.30m - 40' 4.25") finished just behind Bamfo and came in second place in the triple jump.

Junior Theo Triadafillopulos (Levittown, N.Y.) captured second place in the long jump with a mark of 6.02m (19' 9") and junior Anthony Perchinelli (Long Beach, N.Y.) ran the 3000m in 11:00.40 for a runner-up finish.

The 4x100m relay of sophomore Francisco Bejarano (Central Islip, N.Y.), sophomore Nathaniel Blades (Freeport, N.Y.), Aladegboungbe and Bamfo also earned second place in 45.88.

Folarin registered third place in the 100m in a personal-best 11.48 and was fourth in the 200m (23.15).

Freshman Renzo Chevez (Westbury, N.Y.) (400m - 52.20), senior Thomas Moeller (Kings Park, N.Y.) (800m - 2:13.83) and senior Rodney Jerome (Westbury, N.Y.) (110H - 16.09; 400H - 55.36) each earned third place finishes.

For the women, junior Alexxis McNeil (Valley Stream, N.Y.) set personal bests in both the 100m and 200m. She ran the 100m in 12.88 and moved into a tie for seventh place all-time. McNeil finished the 200m in 26.38 and improved her #8 all-time mark.

Senior Emily Russell (Southold, N.Y.) earned four top-5 finishes at The Big Hurt, including a victory in the high jump. She set a new personal best mark of 1.55m (5' 1") and moved into a tie for fourth place on the FSC record list.

Russell also competed in the 100m hurdles and took third place in 17.75. She finished fifth in both the long jump (4.65m - 15' 3.25") and shot put (10.40m - 34' 1.5") as well.

Senior Alycia Haynes (Adams Center, N.Y.) earned fifth place in the 800m in 2:28.11.

Senior Amira Kemp (Copiague, N.Y.) competed in four different events earning a trio of top-6 finishes. She earned fifth place in both the 100m hurdles (18.52) and high jump (1.40m - 4' 7"), took sixth in the long jump (4.49m - 14' 8.75") and was 11th in the shot put (6.99m - 22' 11.25").

Sophomore Meghan Cichon (Mahopac, N.Y.) ran both the 100m (13.89) and 200m (28.91) and came in ninth and tenth, respectively.

Coach Omeltchenko Invitational (Sun.)

Farmingdale State also competed at the Coach Omeltchenko Invitational on Sunday and earned a pair of victories.

In the hammer, junior Steven Grannis (Farmingdale, N.Y.) sent a toss of 39.95m (131' 1") to earn the win. His throw was more than three meters further than the runner-up. 

FSC's other win came in the 3000m steeplechase as senior Matthew Calogianes (Deer Park, N.Y.) (10:22.46) took first in the event for the second consecutive week.

Freshman thrower Marcin Wasiuta (Farmingdale, N.Y.) earned second place finishes in both the shot put and discus. He set personal best marks of 11.94m (39' 2.25") in the shot put and 34.55m (113' 4") in the discus.

The Rams also earned a third place finish in the javelin with sophomore Dominick LaMountain's (Massapequa, N.Y.) toss of 34.08m (111' 10").

Sophomore Adam Stanisz (Harriman, N.Y.) competed in both the hammer (28.20m - 92' 6") and javelin (33.54m - 110') and took fourth place in both.

On the women's side, sophomore Madelyn Karman (Sayville, N.Y.) led the way with fourth place in both the discus (25.62m - 84' 1") and hammer (30.77m - 100' 11") and 12th in the shot put (7.64m - 25' 0.75").

Senior Melissa Reyes (Selden, N.Y.) took sixth in the javelin with her throw of 16.69m (54' 9").

The outdoor track and field teams will next compete at the Osprey Open hosted by Stockton College on Friday, April 7th and Saturday, April 8th.
