POMONA, N.J. | Farmingdale State seniors Joseph Stocken VI (Miller Place, N.Y.) and Matthew Calogianes (Deer Park, N.Y.) picked up wins in the 400m hurdles and 3000m steeplechase, respectively, at the season opening Stockton Outdoor Track & Field Invite on Saturday.
Stocken VI came in first out of 11 competitors in the 400m hurdles in 57.22, while Calogianes earned the win in the 3000m steeplechase in 10:20.13.
Stocken VI (16.63) also competed in the 110m hurdles with classmate Rodney Jerome (Westbury, N.Y.) (17.01) and they earned fourth and fifth, respectively.
Freshman Samuel Aladegboungbe (Bay Shore, N.Y.) picked up a fourth place finish in the high jump with a height of 5' 5.25" (1.66m), while freshman Daniel Bamfo (Lake Grove, N.Y.) (40' 4" - 12.29m) took sixth in the triple jump.
FSC junior thrower Steven Grannis (Farmingdale, N.Y.) recorded a personal-best throw of 131' 11" (40.21m) in the hammer and came in fourth place.
Freshman Marcin Wasiuta (Farmingdale, N.Y.) posted a team-best mark in the shot put for eighth place out of 29.
Junior Timothy Folarin (Elmont, N.Y.) ran the 400m in 57.50 for a 28th place finish. In the 1500m, sophomores Patrick Vierling (Deer Park, N.Y.) and Jonathan Engelhardt (Kings Park, N.Y.) posted times of 4:59.09 and 4:59.53.
For the women, sophomore Meghan Cichon (Mahopac, N.Y.) ran the 100m dash in 14.19 and came in 12th place.
Senior Amira Kemp (Copiague, N.Y.) placed 11th of 24 in the long jump with a mark of 14' 0.5" (4.28m).
Rams' throwers Emily Russell (Southold, N.Y.) (Javelin, 7th - 81' 5" (24.82m), Shot Put, 10th - 30' 4.25" (9.25m)) and Madelyn Karman (Sayville, N.Y.) (Hammer, 10th - 97' 2" (29.63m), Discus, 13th - 70' 6" (21.48m)) posted a trio of top-10 finishes.
The FSC outdoor track & field teams will next compete at The Big Hurt at St. John's University on Saturday, April 1st.
