Farmingdale State Women Win Fourth Straight Skyline Championship

Kings Point, N.Y. - For the fourth consecutive season, the Farmingdale State women are the 2022 Skyline Conference Outdoor Track & Field Champions. The women cruised to victory as they scored 268 points, while runner-up Merchant Marine had 130 points.

On the men's side, Farmingdale State (209) took second place after being edged out by host-school Merchant Marine (252).

The Farmingdale State women won 10 of 19 events and swept the major awards with junior Alycia Haynes (Adams Center, N.Y.) taking home Track Athlete of the Year honors for the second straight year and freshman Khadia Jenkins (Farmingdale, N.Y.) earning Field Athlete of the Year and Rookie of the Year.

In addition, Head Coach Daniela Georgieva took home Coach of the Year honors on the women's side.

The men earned four victories on the day with freshman Jovany Philippe (Huntington, N.Y.) claiming Co-Rookie of the Year honors. 

Haynes won all four events she competed in. She took first in the 800m in 2:31.75, the 1500m in 5:54.16 and the 5000m in 19:39.44 (4th all-time). She also helped the women to a victory in the 4x400m relay. Haynes and freshmen Jillian Kosky (Merrick, N.Y.), Gianna Scibelli (North Babylon, N.Y.) and Lindsey Jolly (Massapequa, N.Y.) captured the relay in 5:00.95.

Jenkins bested seven other competitors in the discus with a toss of 27.75m (91') (8th all-time) and also defeated five others in the hammer with a throw of 36.74m (120' 6"). Jenkins also came in second in both the high jump (1.55m / 5' 1") (T-4th all-time) and the shot put (10.87m / 35' 8").

Freshman Alexxis McNeil (Valley Stream, N.Y.) was victorious in both the 100m dash (13.10) and the 200m dash (26.91). She is now tied for 10th on the all-time list in the 100m.

Senior Amira Kemp (Copiague, N.Y.) competed in five events, placing in the top four of each one. She finished second in the 100m hurdles in 18.44 and placed third in the 400m hurdles in 1:25.91. She came in third in both the long jump (4.63m / 15' 2.25") and triple jump (9.13m / 29' 11.5") and placed fourth for the high jump (1.45m / 5'9"). 

Junior Emily Russell (Southold, N.Y.) took first place in both the shot put (11.09m / 36' 4.75") and the long jump (5.03m / 16' 6"). She also captured second in the javelin with a toss of 27.70m (90' 10") and was third in the high jump (1.50m / 4'11"), 100m hurdles (18.56) and 200m dash (27.81). 

Russell set four top-10 all-time marks at FSC. She now ranks fourth for the javelin, fifth in the shot put, tied for seventh in the high jump, and ninth for the long jump.

Jolly and Scibelli came in second (14:17.23) and fourth (15:10.76), respectively, in the 3000m steeplechase, while Kosky placed second in the 400m dash in 1:08.35. Jolly also placed second in the 1500m (6:31.22) and Scibelli recorded a fourth-place finish in the 800m (2:54.74).

Freshman Meghan Cichon (Mahopac, N.Y.) placed third in the 100m in a time of 14.10, was fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 8.70m (28' 6.5"), and fifth in the 200m in 29.16.

Freshman Madelyn Karman (Sayville, N.Y.) placed second in the hammer with a mark of 31.76m (104' 2"). She also placed third in the discus (26.20m / 85' 11"). Freshman Nephar Durand (Huntington Station, N.Y.) earned third place finishes in both the shot put (9.30m / 30' 6.25") and the hammer (30.02m / 98' 6").

The women also took second in the 4x100m relay as the team of Kosky, Cichon, McNeil and Aversa posted a time of 1:00.72.

For the men, Philippe earned 25 points as he took first in the long jump with a mark of 6.41m (21' 0.5") and was second for the high jump (1.75m / 5' 8.75"). He also set personal best times in both the 100m (11.67 - 3rd of 10) and 200m (24.09 - 6th of 11).

Senior Joseph Stocken VI (Miller Place, N.Y.) won both the 110m hurdles and the 400m hurdles. Stocken VI bested six others in the 110m hurdles with a time of 16.15 and beat out seven competitors in the 400m hurdles in a career-best time of 57.79.

Stocken VI also competed in the javelin throw and took second place with a mark of 38.76m (127' 2").

Freshman Steven Grannis (Farmingdale, N.Y.) won the hammer throw with a toss of 38.31m (125' 8"). He also placed fifth in the discus with a throw of 23.16m (76').

Junior Rodney Jerome (Westbury, N.Y.) (16.30) and senior Matthew Calogianes (Deer Park, N.Y.) (58.60) placed second in the 110m hurdles and 400m hurdles, respectively. Calogianes also took second placed in the 3000m steeplechase in 10:36.49.

In the pole vault, junior Casey Weiler (Staten Island, N.Y.) placed second with a mark of 3.80m (12' 5.5").

Junior Morris Johnson (Binghamton, N.Y.) earned a third place finish in the 400m dash in 53.70 and was fourth in the 200m in 23.73.

Junior Alexander Cruz-Reyes (Farmingdale, N.Y.) came in third in the hammer with his throw of 33.89m (111' 2") and was fourth for the shot put (9.89m / 32' 5.5"). Junior Connor McKeever (North Babylon, N.Y.) captured second in the 800m with a time of 2:01.07. 

Senior Chris Syrett (East Norwich, N.Y.) placed in the top five in each of his four events. Syrett earned third in the high jump (1.70m / 5' 7"), fourth for the long jump (5.92m / 19' 5.25") and 110m hurdles (17.33) and was fifth in the triple jump (11.45m / 37' 6.75").

Freshman Robert Kalinowski (Farmingdale, N.Y.) came in third in the pole vault with a height of 2.50m (8' 2.5") and placed fourth in both the discus (24.45m / 80' 2") and the high jump (1.65m / 5' 5").

Sophomore Theo Triadafillopulos (Levittown, N.Y.) produced a mark of 6.04m (19' 9.75") in the long jump and came in third.

Freshman Dominick LaMountain (Massapequa, N.Y.) earned fourth in the javelin with a throw of 36.33m (119' 2"), while freshman Isaiah Mehnert (West Babylon, N.Y.) took fourth in the triple jump (12.06m / 39' 7").

Freshmen Timothy Folarin (Elmont, N.Y.), Nathaniel Blades (Freeport, N.Y.) and Michel Seminara (Hauppague, N.Y.) placed fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 100m. 

Folarin also captured fifth in the 200m in 23.89.
