Russell Sets Top-10 National Mark at Osprey Open

Galloway, N.J. - The Farmingdale State men's and women's outdoor track and field teams traveled to Galloway, N.J. for the Osprey Open hosted by Stockton University on Friday and Saturday. Junior Emily Russell (Southold, N.Y.) competed in the heptathlon and scored 3,866 points in the seven events. She placed 3rd out of 13 competitors and now ranks second in the All-Atlantic Region and is sixth in the Nation. Her mark also sits third on the FSC all-time list.

Also for the women, junior Alycia Haynes (Adams Center, N.Y.) placed eighth out of 34 competitors in the 1500m in 5:13.65.

Freshman Alexxis McNeil (Valley Stream, N.Y.) earned 13th in the 200m in 27.49 and was 14th in the 100m in 13.63.

In addition, freshman Meghan Cichon (Mahopac, N.Y.) set personal-best marks in both the long jump (4.17m / 13' 8.25") and 100m (14.29).

For the men, junior Matthew Calogianes (Deer Park, N.Y.) led the way with three top-10 finishes. Calogianes won the 3000m steeplechase for the second straight week with a time of 10:23.74. He also placed fifth in the 400m hurdles in 59.96 and was eighth in the 1500m in 4:18.06.

Senior Joseph Stocken VI (Miller Place, N.Y.) set career-best marks in both the 110m hurdles and 400m hurdles. He placed eighth of 15 in the 110m hurdles in 16.76 and third of 20 in the 400m hurdles in 58.26.

Junior Rodney Jerome (Westbury, N.Y.) also competed in the 110m hurdles and placed ninth in a personal-best time of 16.91.

In the long jump, freshman Jovany Philippe (Huntington, N.Y.) took fourth out of 38 competitors with a career-long mark of 6.58m (21' 7.25"). Senior Chris Syrett (East Norwich, N.Y.) also set a personal-best in the long jump with a mark of 6.34m (20' 9.75") and placed ninth.

Freshman Robert Kalinowski (Farmingdale, N.Y.) moved into 10th all-time in the Farmingdale State record books after scoring 4,065 points in the decathlon and placing sixth overall.

Junior Morris Johnson (Binghamton, N.Y.) notched a 21st place finish in the 400m in a career-best time of 52.87. He also took 28th out of 76 in the 200m in 23.85.

Junior Connor McKeever (North Babylon, N.Y.) placed 14th (out of 47) in the 800m in 2:04.00.

FSC will next compete in the Skyline Conference Championship at the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Sunday, April 24th.
