Jenkins Wins Three Events at Coach Omeltchenko Invite

Kings Point, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's and women's outdoor track and field teams competed at the Coach Omeltchenko Invitational at the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Sunday. Senior Khadia Jenkins (Farmingdale, N.Y.) led FSC with victories in the shot put (10.91m / 35' 9.5"), discus (26.37m / 86' 6") and hammer (38.62m / 126' 8"), to go along with a runner-up finish in the high jump (1.55m / 5' 1").

Jenkins now ranks fourth all-time at FSC in the high jump, is fifth for the shot put, sixth in the hammer and eighth in the discus.

Also for the women, junior Alycia Haynes (Adams Center, N.Y.) won the 1500m for the second consecutive week in a time of 5:11.77, nearly 20 seconds faster than the runner-up finisher.

Freshman Alexxis McNeil (Valley Stream, N.Y.) placed second in the 100m finals in a career-best time of 13.39.

Freshman Gianna Scibelli (North Babylon, N.Y.) (2:51.13) came in fourth in the 800m, while freshman Jillian Kosky (Merrick, N.Y.) (1:10.25) recorded fifth in the 400m.

In the 100m hurdles, junior Emily Russell (Southold, N.Y.) captured second place in 18.53. She also took second in the shot put (9.78m / 32' 1") and was third in the high jump (1.45m / 4'9").

Senior Amira Kemp (Copiague, N.Y.) came in fourth in both the 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles in 18.62 and 1:27.16, respectively.

Senior Joseph Stocken VI (Miller Place, N.Y.) led the men's team with wins in both the 110m hurdles (17.44) and 400m hurdles (59.40).

The Rams captured first place in five other events as junior Matthew Calogianes (Deer Park, N.Y.) took the 3000m steeplechase in 10:02.54, a mark that ranks fifth all-time. He also was second in the 400m hurdles in a time of 1:00.27.

Freshman Jovany Philippe (Huntington, N.Y.) was victorious in the high jump with a mark of 1.77m (5' 9.75") and freshman Robert Kalinowski (Farmingdale, N.Y.) won the pole vault with a height of 3.97m (13' 0.25").

Freshman Steven Grannis (Farmingdale, N.Y.) bested 11 other competitors in the hammer with a toss of 36.57m (120'), while freshman Dominick LaMountain (Massapequa, N.Y.) took the javelin throw (40.02m / 131' 3") for his first career win.

In the 200m, freshman Nathaniel Blades (Freeport, N.Y.) (24.55) came in third place out of 18 runners. Junior Connor McKeever (North Babylon, N.Y.) (2:07.56) also had a third place finish for Farmingdale State in the 800m. 

Senior Chris Syrett (East Norwich, N.Y.) (1.67m / 5' 5.75") and freshman Jaden Euell (Wheatley Heights, N.Y.) (5.94m / 19' 6") placed third in the high jump and long jump, respectively.

In addition, junior Morris Johnson (Binghamton, N.Y.) placed fourth in the 400m with a time of 55.68. 

The Rams will next travel to Stockton College in Galloway, N.J. for the Osprey Open on Friday and Saturday, April 8-9th.
