Stocken VI Earns Pair of Top-3 Finishes; Haynes Wins 1500m at Stockton Invite

Galloway, N.J. - The Farmingdale State men's and women's outdoor track & field teams opened their 2022 season at the Stockton Invite in Galloway, N.J. on Saturday.

For the men, sophomore Joseph Stocken VI (Miller Place, N.Y.) recorded a runner-up finish out of 17 competitors in the 400m hurdles with a time of 59.26. Stocken VI also placed third of eight in the 110m hurdles in 17.13.

Sophomore Rodney Jerome (Westbury, N.Y.) took sixth in the 110m hurdles in 17.99. In the 400m hurdles, junior Matthew Calogianes (Deer Park, N.Y.) finished fourth (59.56) and Jerome seventh (1:02.95).

In the 1500m, Calogianes carded a fifth place finish out of 45 competitors in 4:16.63.

Freshman Rosean Bernard (Jamaica, N.Y.) earned a pair of top-10 finishes as he took ninth in the 400m (53.64) and 10th in the 200m (23.93.). Also in the 200m, freshman Nathaniel Blades (Freeport, N.Y.) placed 15th out of 50 runners with a time of 24.11.

The 4x100m relay team of Chris Syrett (East Norwich, N.Y.), Jaden Euell (Wheatley Heights, N.Y.), Isaiah Mehnert (West Babylon, N.Y.) and Theo Triadafillopulos (Levittown, N.Y.) finished in sixth place in 46.87.

In the high jump, freshman Jovany Philippe (Huntington, N.Y.) placed fifth with a leap of 1.75m (5' 8.75"), while Syrett finished tied for sixth (1.70m / 5' 7").

In the long jump, Philippe took fourth of 19 with a distance of 6.30m (20' 8") and Syrett placed sixth (6.03m / 19' 9.5").

Freshman Steven Grannis (Farmingdale, N.Y.) (38.70m / 127") and sophomore Alexander Cruz-Reyes (Farmingdale, N.Y.) (37.42m / 122' 9") finished in fifth and sixth place, respectively, in the hammer.

In the javelin, freshman Robert Kalinowski (Farmingdale, N.Y.) recorded an 11th place finish with a distance of 33.92m (111' 3").

For the women, sophomore Alycia Haynes (Adams Center, N.Y.) led the way as she won the 1500m in 5:10.33. Her time topped 31 other competitors and ranks sixth all-time at FSC.

Freshman Alexxis McNeil (Valley Stream, N.Y.) placed fourth of 28 in the 100m in 13.44 and fifth of 49 in the 200m in 26.64. McNeil now ranks ninth all-time at Farmingdale State in the 200m.

In the 100m hurdles, junior Amira Kemp (Copiague, N.Y.) (19.40) and freshman Gabriella Aversa (Elwood, N.Y.) (20.44) finished eighth and ninth, respectively.

In the 400m, freshman Jillian Kosky (Merrick, N.Y.) took 12th with a time of 1:07.53.

The 4x100m relay team of Emily Russell (Southold, N.Y.), Meghan Cichon (Mahopac, N.Y.), Kosky and McNeil finished in third place in 52.04.

Russell also earned a pair of top-4 finishes in both the long jump (4.81m / 15' 9.5") and the shot put (10.49m / 34' 5"). Russell is now ranked fifth all-time at FSC in the shot put.

Farmingdale State will next head to Kings Point, N.Y. for the Coach Omeltchenko Invitational at the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Sunday, April 3rd.
