Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's and women's outdoor track teams both took 1st place overall at the 2018 Skyline Conference Outdoor Track Championship today held at Farmingdale State College in Farmingdale, N.Y. For the men's overall team scoring, the Rams scored 236.5 points, while Merchant Marine was the runner-up with 187 points. On the women's side, Farmingdale State finished with 193.5 team points, followed by USMMA in second place with 178 points.

Farmingdale State won 11 men's events, while the women's team won 8 events. Senior Nikola Georgiev (Kings Park, N.Y.) highlighted FSC at the meet with three wins, including the 100m (11.24) and the 4x1 (42.88) and 4x4 (3:27.62) relays as the Rams swept both events. He also posted a 2nd place finish in the 200m (22.92). Sophomore Joseph McKeon (Hyde Park, N.Y.) won two events and took 2nd place in two events. He won the Javelin (43.96m) and High Jump (5' 8.5") and was runner-up in the Long Jump (19' 6.75") and 110m Hurdles (16.77). Sophomore Samantha Pollucci (Bay Shore, N.Y.) won both the 100m (12.80) and 200m (27.42) and finished in 3rd in the Long Jump (14' 10.5"). Sophomore Erin Lettieri (West Islip, N.Y.) won the 1500m (5:02.97, moved to #3 all-time) and 5000m (19:47.91).

Merchant Marine won five events, as senior Austin MacElrevey (Lewes, Del.) won the 800m (2:02.2), the 1500m (4:16.23) and the 5000m (16:08.92). Freshman Ivan Goretoy (West Warwick, R.I.) took 1st place in the Discus with a distance of 42.03m and also won the Shot Put with a mark of 12.37m. St. Joseph's-L.I. won three events, including the 110m Hurdles, 400m Hurdles and the Long Jump.

For the women, Merchant Marine won five events as sophomore Alexa Vandermeer (Grove Heights, Minn.) won the 400m in a time of 1:03.82 and ran the first leg of the winning 4x400m Relay team. The Mariners also won the 800m, the Discus and the Long Jump. Mount Saint Mary took 3rd place overall with wins in the Javelin, 100m Hurdles, 3000m Steeplechase and the Shot Put. St. Joseph's-L.I. won the 400m Hurdles and Pole Vault.
