Ewa Breaks School Record at Osprey Open

Pomona, N.J. - The Farmingdale State men's and women's outdoor track teams traveled to the Osprey Open hosted by Stockton College on Friday-Saturday, April 14-15.

Rams junior Jyaire Ewa (Stamford, Conn.) highlighted the meet as he took 1st place in the Hammer with a mark of 179' 7" (54.75m), breaking his school record from last season by 2 feet 11 inches. Ewa is currently ranked #17 in the Nation in the Hammer.

Senior Jovanni Parkinson (Wyandanch, N.Y.) took 2nd place in the 200m in an ECAC qualifying time of 22.15, along with 4th place in the 400m in 50.26 seconds.

Freshman Chad George (Levittown, N.Y.) finished 3rd in the 100m with a season-best and ECAC qualifying time of 11.04. He also took 4th place in the 200m with a season-best 22.52.

Freshman James O'Brien (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) took 2nd place in the 3,000m Steeplechase (10:02.79), moving into #4 All-Time in the FSC record books.

Junior Stephen Schmidt (Levittown, N.Y.) placed 4th in the Discus (42.02m, 137' 10").

For the women at the event, sophomore Tunisia Solomon (Amityville, N.Y.) placed 3rd in the Triple Jump with a distance of 10.58m (34' 8.5"). Junior Nicole Franz (Melville, N.Y.) took 5th place in the 800m in a personal best 2:26.07, improving her #4 All-Time mark.

Freshman Giselle Barrios (Central Islip, N.Y.) finished 5th in the 400m Hurdles in 1:11.04, while Freshman Erin Lettieri (West Islip, N.Y.) placed 9th in the 1,500m to move to #10 All-Time at 5:23.75.
