
Two Qualify for Nationals at Ramapo Invitational
- Ellis and Chukwuezi qualify for another National Championship -
Mahwah, N.J. - Indoor track Triple Jump All-Americans,
senior Qasim Ellis (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and sophomore Faustine
Chukwuezi (Central Islip, N.Y.) provisionally qualified for their
second National Championship's this year.
Qasim won the Men's Triple Jump and broke the school record with a jump of 14.53m (47' 8") to qualify for both the ECAC and National meets. The previous record was 47' 4" by Glen Graepel set in 1966. This was the oldest existing school record on the books.
Faustine placed 2nd in the Women's Triple Jump with a national provisional and ECAC qualifying leap of 11.40m (37' 5"). This improves her #2 performance on the All-Time triple jump list.
