Track Wins Team Championship at New York Relays
- Men Finish 1st of 16 teams; Gina Pierre Breaks School Record in Hammer Throw -
Randall's Island, N.Y. - The men's outdoor track team scored 163 points to defeat 15 teams for the team championship at the New York Relays on Friday, April 10th at Icahn Stadium. The men's team won two events, placed second in eight events, three third place finishes, and six fourth place. Sophomore Gina Pierre (Wyandanch, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) won the Hammer Throw and broke her own school record.
Ramapo College finished in second place with 135.5 points. Following in third and fourth place, respectively, was Division I Columbia University (110 points) and Manhattan College (36 points).
Pierre's record-breaking throw bettered her record by an outstanding four feet, with a toss of 38.57m (126' 6"). The women's team scored 18 points to place 11th.
