West Long Branch, N.J. - On a damp, cold day,
Qasim Ellis (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) won the long jump and
triple jump at the Monmouth University season opener. Ellis long
jumped 6.47m (21' 2 3/4") and triple jumped 13.12m (43' 2
1/2").
The 4x400m relay of Jermaine Carter (Rego Park, N.Y./Mt. St.
Michael Academy), Gregory Denis (Tallahassee, Fla./Elmont
Memorial), John Bates (Bronx, N.Y./Walton) and Samar Hall
(Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) placed 2nd in 3:24.84, to qualify
for the ECAC meet. The event had 19 schools and over 1,000
entries.
