
Men Win Vassar College Open; Women Place Fourth
- Men's team wins all six events -
Poughkeepsie, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State outdoor track
team rested most of the runners this weekend but the field event
athletes dominated at the Vassar Open.
Senior captain Gina Pierre (Wyandanch, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) broke her hammer record for the third time this season with a toss of 43.78m (143' 8"). This qualifies Pierre for her first ever ECAC Championships on May 13-14 at Springfield College in Springfield, Mass.
The men's team won all six events (5 field, 1 running) they participated in, with Farmingdale sweeping the top-4 or top-5 in numerous events.
The Rams next travel to Icahn Stadium in Randall's Island, N.Y. for the NYC Qualifying Challenge on Friday, May 7th and Saturday, May 8th.
