Akil Williams Takes First Place at ECAC's
May 20, 2006

Springfield, MA - Four Farmingdale State student-athletes competed on May 19-20th in the ECAC Championships at Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts.

In a heavy rain with high winds, junior Akil Williams (Jamaica, NY/August Martin) tied for first place in the high jump of 6' 2 3/4" (1.90m). This is way below Akil's season bests of 6' 6 3/4" but considering the weather conditions it was an outstanding performance. The weather cleared for the triple jump as senior captain Patric Santiago (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin) placed fourth with a jump of 45' 7 3/4" (13.91m). Patric ended his career setting a new personal best in the event. Sophomore captain Reggie Routier (Freeport, NY/Freeport) placed 7th in the Triple Jump with a 43' 11 1/4" (13.39m) performance. Reggie also placed 11th in the 110m High Hurdles in 15.96. Freshman Jason Chin-Chitty (Beacon, NY/Beacon) long jumped 20' 7 1/2" (6.28m) to place 14th.

The team placed 19th out of 54 scoring teams and 64 total teams entered.
