Haynes Sets FSC School Record at NJAC Championships

Staten Island, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women finished in seventh place and the men took eighth place at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships held at Ocean Breeze on Monday night. The women totaled 25.33 points, while the men finished with 17 points.

TCNJ claimed the women's title for the fourth consecutive season and 18th time in program history, while Rowan won the men's championship for the seventh straight year.

The women were led by sophomore Alycia Haynes (Adams Center, N.Y.) who set the Farmingdale State school record in the mile. Her time of 5:22.85 earned her a third place finish and bested the previous school record which was set by Teri Rule in 1987.

In the high jump, freshman Khadia Jenkins (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and junior Emily Russell (Southold, N.Y.) each tied for second place with leaps of 1.56m (5' 1.25"). Russell joined Jenkins in the upcoming Atlantic Regionals with her mark.

In the shot put, Jenkins took fifth with a toss of 11.35m (37' 3"), while Russell placed 10th with a personal best mark of 10.37m (34' 0.25"). Jenkins also recorded a ninth place finish in the weight throw with a distance of 12.86m (42' 6.25").

In the 60m, freshman Alexxis McNeil (Valley Stream, N.Y.) recorded an 11th place finish with a time of 8.30.

For the men, sophomore Casey Weiler (Staten Island, N.Y.) was runner-up out of 11 competitors in the pole vault with a personal best mark of 4.25m (13' 11.25") which is tied for eighth all-time at FSC.

In the 60m hurdles, sophomore Joseph Stocken VI (Miller Place, N.Y.) took seventh with a personal best time of 9.09. Stocken's mark in the 60m hurdles is T8 all-time at Farmingdale State. He also placed 13th in the 400m in 55.59.

Sophomore Morris Johnson (Binghamton, N.Y.) finished in eighth place in the 60m in 7.26. In the preliminaries, Johnson posted a personal best time of 7.15 which qualified him for the Atlantic Regionals.

Junior Chris Syrett (East Norwich, N.Y.) earned three finishes inside the top-11. In the high jump, he took seventh with a leap of 1.70m (5' 7"). Syrett followed with a ninth place finish in the long jump (6.18m / 20' 3.5") and finished 11th in the triple jump (12.02m / 39' 5.25").

Freshman Jovany Philippe (Huntington, N.Y.) placed 10th in the long jump with a distance of 6.12m (20' 1").

The FSC indoor track teams next will compete at the Fastrack Qualifier Invitational at Ocean Breeze on Friday, February 25th.
