Indoor Track Competes at Fastrack National Invitational

Staten Island, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State indoor track teams competed at the Fastrack National Invitational held at the Ocean Breeze Park Track & Field Complex in Staten Island, N.Y. on Friday.

Sophomore Morris Johnson (Binghamton, N.Y.) led the way for the men with a fifth place finish out of 80 competitors in the 60m with a time of 7.22. Johnson was the top-Division III finisher in the event.

In the mile, junior Matthew Calogianes (Deer Park, N.Y.) took 25th in 4:44.95, while freshman Daniel Catano (Deer Park, N.Y.) placed 37th in 5:00.08.

Sophomore Joseph Stocken VI (Miller Place, N.Y.) finished 12th in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.44 to lead the FSC team.

In the long jump, freshman Jovany Philippe (Huntington, N.Y.) carded a 10th place finish out of 53 with a leap of 6.48m (21' 3.25").

For the women, freshman Khadia Jenkins (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and junior Emily Russell (Southold, N.Y.) each tied for third out of 22 competitors in the high jump with leaps of 1.50m (4' 11").

In the mile, sophomore Alycia Haynes (Adams Center, N.Y.) took fourth with a personal best time of 5:35.83. Haynes now sits at #6 on the FSC All-Time List.

Jenkins also notched a 14th place finish out of 57 in the shot put with a personal best throw of 11.69m (38' 4.25"). Her mark is the third best all-time at Farmingdale State in the shot put.

The Rams next will compete in the NJAC Championships at Ocean Breeze on Monday, February 21st.
