Indoor Track Competes at NYC Gotham Cup

Staten Island, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State indoor track teams competed at the NYC Gotham Cup held at the Ocean Breeze Park Track & Field Complex in Staten Island, N.Y. on Friday.

Freshman Khadia Jenkins (Farmingdale, N.Y.) led the way for the women with a runner-up finish in the high jump with a leap of 1.55m (5' 1"). Jenkins also placed 11th in the shot put (11.31m / 37' 1.25") and 16th in the weight throw (13.25m / 43' 5.75"). Jenkins' mark in the shot put ranks sixth all-time at FSC and her toss in the weight throw is fourth on the FSC All-Time List. Junior Emily Russell (Southold, N.Y.) carded a runner-up finish in the high jump, tying Jenkins and four others.

Junior Amira Kemp (Copiague, N.Y.) took 23rd in the 60m hurdles with a time of 10.65.

For the men, sophomore Casey Weiler (Staten Island, N.Y.) recorded a sixth place finish in the pole vault (4.10m / 13' 5.25") and moved into 10th place on the FSC All-Time List.

Sophomore Morris Johnson (Binghamton, N.Y.) finished 27th in the 200m (23.18) and 35th in the 60m (7.30).

In the 800m, sophomore Connor McKeever (North Babylon, N.Y.) placed 26th in 2:09.17.

Farmingdale State next will head back to Ocean Breeze for the University at Albany Great Dane Classic on Friday, January 28th.
