Staten Island, N.Y. - On Friday, the Farmingdale State men's and women's indoor track teams traveled to Ocean Breeze Park and competed in the Fastrack National Invitational.
For the men, junior Justin Percival (Melville, N.Y.) tallied a fourth place finish in a field of 82 competitors for the 60m with a time of 6.89. He also took sixth of 25 in the 200m Invite in 22.21.
Freshman Denzel Green Wright (Central Islip, N.Y.) placed 11th in the 200m in 22.68 as well as registering a 51.11 in the 400m for 18th of 75.
In the pole vault, sophomore Eren Cabaci (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) improved to #8 on the FSC All-Time List with a mark of 4.25m (13' 11.25"). In the weight throw, junior Markhus Obas (Wheatley Heights, N.Y.) tallied a 10th of 50 finish with a distance of 15.16m (49' 9") and now holds the #9 spot all-time at Farmingdale State.
The women were led by freshman Iyana Alexandre (Ridge, N.Y.) who set personal bests in both the shot put and the weight throw. On the FSC All-Time List, Alexandre improved to #6 in the weight throw (10.89m / 35' 8.75") and #9 in the shot put (9.72m / 31' 10.75") after finishing 32nd and 39th, respectively.
Also for the women, the distance medley relay team of freshman Francesca Frasco (Shelter Island, N.Y.), junior Erin Lettieri (West Islip, N.Y.), freshman Hayley Brigham (Southold, N.Y.) and junior Nicole Ferguson (Shirley, N.Y.) moved into second all-time at FSC after posting a time of 13:40.84.
The men's team currently has five individuals and one relay qualified for the upcoming ECAC Championships being held on March 1st and 2nd. Percival - 60m and 200m, Wright - 200m and 400m, Philip Sellitto - 400m, Obas - Weight Throw, Cabaci - Pole Vault, and the 4x400m relay team of Percival, Wright, Joseph Motis and Sellitto. Percival and Obas have also qualified for the Atlantic Regionals.
Farmingdale State next will compete at the NJAC Championships at Ocean Breeze Park Track & Field Complex on Monday, February 18th.
