Indoor Track Competes at NYC Gotham Cup

Staten Island, N.Y. - On Friday, the Farmingdale State men's and women's indoor track teams headed to Ocean Breeze Park for the NYC Gotham Cup. 

For the men, junior Justin Percival (Melville, N.Y.) was the runner-up in a field of 82 competitors for the 60m with a time of 6.94 and also took seventh of 77 in the 200m in 22.21. Percival is now ranked second in the NCAA in the 60m and 14th in the Nation for the 200m.

In the 800m, freshman Joshua Green (Shelter Island, N.Y.) took 22nd of 67 in 2:01.60, while the 4x400m relay team of Percival, Denzel Green Wright (Central Islip, N.Y.), Joseph Motis (Massapequa, N.Y.) and Philip Sellitto (Levittown, N.Y.) placed sixth with a time of 3:26.67.

In the weight throw, juniors Thomas Franks (Coram, N.Y.) (14.02m / 46') and Markhus Obas (Wheatley Heights, N.Y.) (13.66m / 44' 9.75") finished in 19th and 21st place, respectively.

The women were led by sophomore Marina Magoulas (Islip, N.Y.) who recorded a personal best toss of 8.99m (29' 6") in the shot put and notched a 15th place finish in the weight throw with a distance of 13.20m (43' 3.75"). Magoulas' mark in the weight throw is #3 on the FSC All-Time List.

In the high jump, freshman Amira Kemp (Copiague, N.Y.) moved to #5 All-Time at FSC with a leap of 1.50m (4' 11"), while sophomore Danielle Losquadro's (Bethpage, N.Y.) time of 8.65 in the 60m is now seventh best in school history.

The Rams next will head to the New Balance Track & Field Center in New York, N.Y. for the NYU Invitational on Friday, February 1st.
