Ewa Breaks School Record at Bill Ward Invite

South Huntington, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's and women's indoor track team competed in the 8th Annual Bill Ward Meet held at St. Anthony's High School on Thursday night, December 7th. Senior thrower Jyaire Ewa (Rochdale, N.Y.) broke the school record to win the Weight Throw at the meet, with a toss of 59' 5.5" (18.12m), surpassing a record held by Ed Brown since 2012. His distance is now ranked 4th overall in the Nation. Ewa's also posted a 3rd place finish in the Shot Put with a distance of 13.03m (42' 9").

FSC snagged four of the top five spots in the Weight Throw, with Ewa in 1st followed by sophomore Thomas Franks (3rd place, 44' 3.5"), junior Markhus Obas (4th place, 40' 11.5") and junior Griffin Young (5th place, 39' 8.5").

In the 200m, senior Nicolas Fratto (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and junior Chad George (Levittown, N.Y.) took 4th and 5th place overall, but for College rankings they finished 1st and 2nd, respectively.

In the 500m, junior Philip Sellitto (Levittown, N.Y.) took 2nd place in a time of 1:08.42. In the 800m, freshman Anthony Aromolo (East Northport, N.Y.) finished in 2nd with a time of 2:05.51. Sophomore James O'Brien (South Jamaica, N.Y.) took 2nd in the 3000m with a time of 9:22.89.

Sophomore Joseph McKeon (Hyde Park, N.Y.) placed 3rd in the 60m Hurdles in 9.38 seconds to move into 8th All-Time at FSC. In the Pole Vault, junior Richard Zapata (Farmingdale, N.Y.) cleared a height of 12' 11.5" to finish 3rd, while freshman Louis Hernandez (Ozone Park, N.Y.) posted a 3rd place finish in the High Jump, clearing 5' 8.75" (1.75m). Sophomore David Santa (Westbury, N.Y.) took 3rd place in the 800m in 2:05.98.

On the women's side, sophomore Erin Lettieri (West Islip, N.Y.) placed 4th in the 3000m in 11:19.79. Senior Nicole Franz (Melville, N.Y.) posted a 5th place finish in the 800m with a time of 2:38.65.

Freshman Marina Magoulas (Central Islip, N.Y.) moved to #5 All-Time in the Weight Throw with a distance of 34' 3.5". She also moved to #10 All-Time in the Shot Put (30' 11.75").

Farmingdale State will next compete on Friday, January 5th at the Wagner Invitational held at the Ocean Breeze Track and Field Complex in Staten Island, N.Y.
