Men's Place Fifth; Women Finish Eighth at NJAC Championships

Staten Island, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's and women's indoor track teams competed at the NJAC Championships held at the Ocean Breeze Park Track & Field Complex on Monday. The men's team finished in fifth place, while the women recorded an eighth place finish.

Sophomore Jyaire Ewa (North Massapequa, N.Y.) won the weight throw with a toss of 16.48m as he finished atop the field of 24 competitors. For the women's weight throw, junior Maia Cadle-Hinton (Huntington, N.Y.) earned a runner-up finish with a distance of 14.29m.

The men's 4x200m relay team of James D'onofrio (West Babylon, N.Y.), Nikola Georgiev (Kings Park, N.Y.), Jovanni Parkinson (Wyandanch, N.Y.) and Philip Sellitto (Levittown, N.Y.) finished in second place with a time of 1:34.25.

Parkinson also added a third place finish in the 200m (22.98) as well as finishing fifth in the 400m (51.11). Sophomore Idowu Bamisile (Brooklyn, N.Y.) broke the school record in the 60m hurdle prelims with a time of 8.40 and finished third in the finals in 8.49.

Freshman Tunisia Solomon (Amityville, N.Y.) placed 4th-of-16 in the triple jump with a career-best leap of 10.71m.

In the final event of the evening, junior Bryan Giordano* (Brooklyn, N.Y.) recorded a third place finish in the pole vault with a personal best 4.20m.

The indoor track teams next will compete in the Fastrack Last Chance Qualifier at the Ocean Breeze Park Track & Field Complex on Saturday, February 27th.
