- Ewa sets season-best NJAC mark in weight throw -
Staten Island, N.Y. - Sophomore Jyaire Ewa (North Massapequa, N.Y.) and senior Jovanni Parkinson (Wyandanch, N.Y.) led the Farmingdale State indoor track teams at the NYC Gotham Cup held at the Ocean Breeze Park Track & Field Complex in Staten Island, N.Y.
Ewa won the weight throw with a career-best toss of 17.24 meters (56' 6 3/4"). His mark of 17.24m is currently the top throw in the New Jersey Athletic Conference this season and the ninth best in Division III. Ewa moved to #2 on the FSC All-Time List for the weight throw. In the shot put, he finished in 15th place out of 34 competitors with a distance of 12.78m (41' 11 1/4").
Parkinson placed 12th of 97 in the 400m with an ECAC qualifying time of 49.85.
The men's and women's indoor track teams next will compete at the Ramapo Indoor Select Meet at the New Balance Track and Field Center in New York, N.Y. on Saturday, January 30th.
