Ewa Qualifies for ECAC's in First Meet

Staten Island, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's and women's indoor track teams opened their season at the Metro Holiday Open hosted by Manhattan College on Saturday, December 5th at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.

The throwers were led by sophomore Jyaire Ewa (North Massapequa, N.Y.) in 7th place, leading the Division III competitors in the event, with a 16.57m (54' 4 1/4") and improving his #5 All-Time mark. Ewa also qualified for the ECAC's. Freshman Najee Jean (Laurelton, N.Y.) threw 12.35m (40' 6 1/4") and moved to #10 on the All-Time list. 

Freshman Tunisia Solomon (Amityville, N.Y.) jumped a remarkable 10.38m in the women's Triple Jump to place on the All-Time list at #7 in her first collegiate event. Sophomore Nicole Franz (Melville, N.Y.) improved to #8 All-Time in the Mile with a time of 5:55.58.

The men's sprinters saw great performances from senior Jovanni Parkinson (Wyandanch, N.Y.) running 50.74 in the 400m, while freshman Phil Selitto (Levittown, N.Y.) placed 25th in the 200m at 23.36. Sophomore TJ Bamisile (Brooklyn, N.Y.) ran 8.93 in the 60m Hurdles. The men's 4x400 Relay team finished in 11th place with time of 3:26.50. Senior James D'Onofrio (West Babylon, N.Y.) finished in 31st in the 60m, posting a time of 7.25.

Next up for the indoor track team is the St. John's "Bill Ward" Invitational at St. Anthony's High School in South Huntington, N.Y. on Tuesday, December 8th.
