Pitman, N.J. - The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced its Week 2 NJAC Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week selections on Monday, December 15th.
Sophomore Maia Cadle-Hinton (Huntington, N.Y.) earns her first NJAC Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week selection after posting the second-best distance in Farmingdale State history at St. John's Bill Ward Invitational. She finished sixth in a field of 13 competitors in the weight throw with a mark of 13.30 meters. She also placed fifth in a field of 12 throwers with a distance of 12.55 meters in the weight throw during Manhattan College's Brother Jasper Invitational. Cadle-Hinton's performance in the weight throw currently ranks as the third-best NJAC throw in the event this season.
Freshman Nikola Georgiev (Kings Park, N.Y.) earns the first NJAC Men's Indoor Rookie of the Week honors after competing in a pair of meets this week for the Rams. At the St. John's Bill Ward Invitational, he placed seventh in a field of 18 competitors in the long jump with a leap of 6.25 meters. He then placed 11th in a field of 18th competitors in the 200 meters with a time of 23.90. At Manhattan College's Brother Jasper Invitational, he took home a fifth-place showing in the long jump with a leap of 6.19 meters, while placing 11th in the 200 meters with a time of 24.10. His performance at the Bill Ward Invitational in the long jump currently ranks as the fifth best NJAC leap in the event this season.
Sophomore Karl Nilsen (Smithtown, N.Y.) earns NJAC Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week honors after taking home first-place in the pole vault for the second straight year at St. John's Bill Ward Invitational. He opened the week by placing first in the pole vault with a mark of 3.95 meters. At Manhattan College's Brother Jasper Invitational, he placed fifth in a field of six competitors in the pole vault with a mark of 3.90 meters. Nilsen's performance in the pole vault currently ranks as the second-best NJAC leap in the event this season.
