Rams Compete at NJAC Championships

Men - 30 points (8th place); Women - 5 points (9th place)


New York, N.Y. - The men's and women's indoor track team competed in the NJAC Championships at the New Balance Track & Field Center on Saturday, March 1st.

Sophomore James D'onofrio (West Babylon, N.Y.) and junior Joseph Papa (Harrison, N.Y.) both scored in 4-of-5 races. James placed 4th in the 60m in a new personal best (7.14 trials, 7.16 final) to improve his #3 ranking on the all-time 60m list. He ran a season best 23.32 in the 200m and ran on the 4X200m and 4X400m Relay. Both relays placed 8th in the meet. Joseph placed 8th in the 60m (7.36 trials, 7.37 final) and ran a season best 23.45 in the 200m. Joe also ran with James on both scoring relays.

Senior Alix Lamarre (North Bellmore, N.Y.) placed 3rd in the Long Jump with a season best jump of 6.73m (22' 1"). This improves his ECAC qualifying performance. He also placed 7th in the Triple Jump with a distance of 12.51m (41' 1/2").

Senior Daquan Grant (Copiague, N.Y.) placed 3rd in the Triple Jump with a jump of 13.40m (43' 11 3/4") and 5th in the Long Jump 6.65m (21' 10") performance.

Sophomore Jordan Kohlman (Wantagh, N.Y.) placed 6th in the Pole Vault with a personal best vault of 4.10m (13' 5 1/4"). Jordan moves to #8 on the FSC all-time pole vault list.

The women's relay team of sophomore Carina Bonilla (Massapequa Park, N.Y.), sophomore Kazia Garvey (Elmsford, N.Y.), freshmen Penelope Cruz Perez (Santo Domingo, DR) and Ellen Kim (Queens, N.Y.) placed 6th in the Distance Medley Relay in a time of 15:19.59. This ranks them #3 on the all-time list. They also placed 7th in the 4X800m Relay in a time of 12:17.94 to improve their #8 all-time ranking.

The men's team now travels to Boston, Mass. for the ECAC Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center on Friday, March 7th. The Rams will be sending six student-athletes who qualified for the ECAC's in their respective events, including:

  • Alix Lamarre: Long Jump, 6.73m
  • Daquan Grant: Triple Jump, 13.93M
  • 4X200m Relay: James D'Onofrio, Steven Renteria, Joe Papa, Ray Austin - 1:33.09
