Schmidt and Cadle-Hinton Improving Each Week

New York, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's and women's indoor track team competed at the NYU Team Challenge on Friday, January 24th at the New Balance Track & Field Center in New York, N.Y.

Freshmen Stephen Schmidt (Levittown, N.Y.) and Maia Cadle-Hinton (Huntington, N.Y.) have been improving significantly in their respective events. The transition from high school to collegiate competition is difficult especially in the throwing events. The men's shot put increases in weight from 12 lbs. to 16 lbs. and both the men and women have to learn a new event in the 35 lb. and 20 lb. weight throws. Through hard work and the excellent coaching of Anthony Forti and Ed Brown, Steve Schmidt and Maia Cadle-Hinton have consistently improved their performances at each meet. Once again, Steve and Maia set personal bests and moved up the Farmingdale all-time list.

Stephen Schmidt - Shot Put, 11.33m (37' 2"), new personal best; 35 lb Weight Throw - 11.44m (37' 6 1/2"), new personal best, moves to #9 on all-time list.

Maia Cadle-Hinton - 20lb Weight Throw, 11.57m (37' 11 1/2"), new personal best, moves to #2 on all-time list; Shot Put, 9.10m (29' 11 1/4").

Other notable performances

Karl Nilsen - Pole Vault, 4.30m (14' 1 1/4")

Joseph Papa - 200m, 23.71
